About the Electorate Print E-mail
I hope you find some of the following information about the electorate interesting:

The electorate of Araluen is named after EJ Connellan’s homestead, which derived its name from an Aboriginal word believed to mean 'the place of lagoons and water lilies and running water'.

The electorate has changed over the years.  It used to be bordered by Bradshaw Drive, Larapinta Drive, South Terrace & Wills Terrace.  In the late 1990’s, it expanded to take in the Nelson Terrace area, and later it expanded further to include some of the Ilparpa area.

At the Territory election held in August 2008, the electorate changed again and became “semi rural” taking in the Colonel Rose Drive area and an expanded part of Ilparpa.

Araluen no longer takes in the CBD - that changed in August last year and it is now part of the Braitling electorate.
